When XchangePoint needed expansion funding in 2002 the management team turned to AHV for assistance. AHV proved to be an excellent choice as they were able to tap the VC markets across Europe. Despite very difficult market conditions following the dotcom bust, AHV were able to secure significant new investment for XchangePoint. AHV were excellent to work with, being both very focussed on the task but also sensitive to the needs of the company.

XchangePoint was launched as Europe’s first commercial internet interconnect hub and after 2 years was was looking for capital to expand into various locations and reach profitability.
XchangePoint was founded in 2000 to take advantage of a gap in the market for Internet interconnection between ISPs. At this time there was no integrated interconnect infrastructure for ISPs and others to easily move between various interconnection mechanisms. The Company chose to exploit this market gap via the creation of a high bandwidth metro interconnect infrastructure which enabled it to offer an integrated mix of public and private peering and transit interconnect products.
Having successfully rolled out this infrastructure in London, the Company wished to expand its rollout to Frankfurt, Paris, Milan and Amsterdam. Xchangepoint’s business plan required £10 million of staged funding in order to support these rollouts and its management hired AHV to source the capital from venture capital funds.
AHV worked closely with the Company’s management to identify possible equity investors for XchangePoint throughout the UK and Europe. After an initial investment by GMT Communication Partners in 2001, XchangePoint became fully funded when AHV assisted the company in securing further investment from PolyTechnos Venture-Partners, a leading venture capital firm headquartered in Munich.
Post-transaction, one of the founders and CEO of XchangePoint, Annette Nabavi, joined the AHV team as a partner.
